Monitoring the Damage in the Forest Caused by Forest Pests via Google Earth Engine

Forests tend to disappear for various reasons. Insects have problems such as very high reproduction and spread rates, unpredictable distribution directions, inability intervene quickly in the fight against insects. For this reason, harmful insects are at beginning of many factors that cause forest loss. study, Bursa-İnegöl Tahtaköprü location, which was affected by red-tailed beech caterpillar (Calliteara pudibunda) affecting trees, determined study area. This carried out on Google Earth Engine (GEE) interface. area, using Sentinel-2A Landsat-8 satellite data period 2017-2021, 6 different plant indexes; NDVI, EVI, SAVI, RVI, TVI, NPCRI were calculated it most from pests October 2019. These indices also 2019, classification made four combinations 5 classes (diseased, healthy, road, power line, settlement) Random Forest Classification Algorithm Support Vector Machines methods, machine learning-based methods. The result compared Sentine-2A, best combination including all data, overall accuracy 98.48 kappa coefficient 97.68.
